Mémoire et mondialisation dans les pratiques artistiques et créatives

Le projet « Mémoire et mondialisation dans les pratiques artistiques et créatives » vise à explorer l’impact de la mondialisation sur les pratiques artistiques et créatives et sur la façon dont cet impact est mémorisé. Le lien entre les notions de la mémoire et la mondialisation n’est pas une coïncidence, l’intérêt postmoderne pour les discours du passé accompagné du développement des nouvelles technologies de conservation et d’archivage privilégient les problématiques axées sur la mémoire dans de différentes disciplines. En même temps, la notion même de la mondialisation est multidimensionnelle. On peut la considérer comme la définition du moment historique récent – le monde globalisé et néolibéral de trois dernières décennies, ou on peut la comprendre littéralement comme tout contact international, intercontinental, global ou translocal, et dans ce cas les limites temporelles de la mondialisation vont loin à l’antiquité.

Le transfert de l’information se trouve au cœur des processus de la mondialisation et également à la problématique des études de la mémoire. Ce transfert, ou plutôt les transferts d’informations entre cultures, époques et formes expressives et artistiques, constituent l’intérêt principal de notre projet. La prolifération des termes traitant ce phénomène dans les arts et la culture montre la complexité et l’importance du sujet. L’hybridité, les zones de contact, les transferts culturels, l’entropie, les rencontres, les échanges, la migration des idées, l’intermédiation et l’interculturalité, voire les influences si discrédités aujourd’hui – toutes ces notions proviennent de disciplines différentes, se réfèrent souvent à des phénomènes culturels différents et peuvent porter des idéologies différentes mais elles toutes s’entrecroisent dans une certaine mesure. Nous souhaiterions établir un espace commun pour discuter de ces phénomènes dans les géographies et des temporalités variées et ainsi aller au-delà des limites des disciplines et des discours auxquels nous sommes soumis aujourd’hui.

Nous invitons des résumés (en anglais ou en français) qui explorent les échanges dans les arts, les pratiques créatives, les cultures matérielles des temps anciens au monde d’aujourd’hui. Le résumé d’un maximum de 300 mots doit être soumis au plus tard le 19 mars 2017 à inna.pravdenko@univ-lyon3.fr

The project “Memory and globalization in artistic and creative practices” focuses on the exploration of the impact of globalization on artistic and creative practices and the way this impact is memorized. The link between the notions of “memory” and “globalization” is not a coincidence, the interest in the past and its discourses accompanied by the development of archival and storage technologies gave a new push to the interest in memory studies in different disciplines. At the same time the very notion of globalization is multidimensional. It can be seen as a definition of the recent neoliberal globalized world of the last three decades, or it can be understood literally as any international, intercontinental, global or translocal contact, and in this case the temporal limits of globalization go back to antiquity.

Transfers of information lie at the core of the globalization processes and equally at the problematics of memory studies. The transfers between cultures, epochs and expressive forms present the main interest of our project. The proliferation of terms dealing with this phenomenon in arts and culture prove the complexity and importance of the subject: hybridity, contact zones, cultural transfers, entropy, encounters, exchanges, migration of ideas, intermediality and interculturality, “survivals”, even discredited today influences – all these notions that come from different disciplines and might reflect different ideologies but which nevertheless may overlap and intercross to a certain degree. We would like to establish a common space to discuss these phenomena, which encompass different geographies and temporalities and go beyond the limits of the disciplines and discourses we are subject to today.

We invite abstracts (in English or French) that explore the exchanges in the arts, creative practices, and material cultures from ancient times to today’s world. The abstract of maximum 300 words should be submitted no later than 19 March 2017 to: inna.pravdenko@univ-lyon3.fr
